In many countries cannabis is being decriminalized or even legalized. But is it a good theory? On the internet, the negative positions are often understated, this is why we want to present here the three most important disagreements against cannabis.* Intro* First argument: Over the past few centuries, cannabis has grown much stronger. Today it is so strong that it can trigger psychosis and should be counted among hard drugs. The primary active substance in cannabis is THC and there are clear signals that THC has something to do with psychosis. Namely, irrespective of other determining factor. Additionally, cannabis contains CBD which balances for this effect. It is even measured as a means of combating psychoses and tension illness. But while CBD doesn’t get you high, its concentration in cannabis during the last centuries has rejected, while the THC concentration was increased. An examination of samples presented a marked increase from 4% in the 1990 s to 12% in 2014. Thus the proportion of CBD and THC is switched. If we still had a ratio of 1 to 14 in 1995, it was in 2014 already from 1 to 80.
How accurate these assessments were, however, cannot be said. Overall, the most recent research results advocate that the risk of developing psychosis mounts with the frequency and ferocity of cannabis use. But what is the risk for all populations? British study encounters cannabis use soaring between 1996 and 2005. The number of cases of schizophrenia, a structure of psychosis, however, has remained stable. The probability of developing psychosis from cannabis use is very important in people which belong to the basic groups at risk. In them, cannabis can accelerate the course of the disease, but does not cause it according to the current state of research. We hence remembered: less beings are available to cannabis, the less beings will suffer psychoses brought about by cannabis.
But in fact, it could be exactly the opposite: prohibition constitutes illegal drugs stronger. Because in this way more essences can be transported in small-time openings and pay more coin. It also happened during the Alcohol Prohibition in the United Commonwealth. Strong drink became the standard at the time. And the same is happening now with cannabis. Imagine that hooch is the only alcohol that we can get. You would then have the choice: either you don’t guzzle it or you get very drunk very quickly. It is this quandary that many cannabis users find themselves today. People haven’t stopped imbibe during Prohibition and criminalization does not prevent anyone from depleting cannabis. We can’t get rid of cannabis, but we can make it safer.
If cannabis were law, there would be many more options for buyers and one could for example prescribe a high content of CBD. Just like most people after wreak is not booze vodka bottles, many would also prefer the beer copy of cannabis. Second argument: cannabis kindness other medicines. Legalization would also oil the intake of more dangerous drugs. In 2015, a US study showed that around 45% of all consumers Cannabis regulars canvassed have at some detail in their lives also employed other illegal drugs.
Cannabis legalization could continue this trend and in particular to encourage young people to take harder pharmaceuticals. But at the same time, initiation into drug users starts much more quickly: with cigarettes. Harmonizing to current analysis, teens who started inhaling before they were 16 are 80 times more likely to take illegal drugs. And in 2007, a study demonstrated than adolescents who smoking between 12 and 17 rehearse unwarranted drinking 3 times more often and take stimulants like heroin or cocaine 7 times more often. And too make cannabis 7 times more often. But if it’s like that, how does legalization other medicines thwart hard drug use? First, it is important to recognize that the law does not prevent anyone from taking drugs.
If you want to buy drugs, you’ll meet a merchant. So we should instead ask the question: Why do parties develop a drug problem? Studies have shown that there are certain prerequisites which manufacture beings particularly vulnerable to drugs and addiction. A difficult infancy, a recent damage, low-pitched social status, recessions and even genetic causes. What dope are we addicted to? nonetheless seems to be more of a coincidence. Treat admirers make treats to escape their problems, but medicines do not solve these problems; they become one. Punishing people for their wrong way of solving problems does not change the root causes of the problem. So some are of the opinion that we must tackle to the drug issue totally differently.
In 2001, Portugal had to fight one of the worst drug troubles in Europe and was therefore fairly frantic to try something drastic. Decriminalization of medicine property and use. Instead of criminal prosecution, we have put in place a huge anti-drug program. If we caught someone with a small amount of drugs, we guided him to a special anti-drug commission and he was recommended added therapies. Treat ill-treatment was now considered a chronic disease and no longer as international crimes. The upshot was impressive: The number of people who have tried medications and then destroyed it fell in 2012 from 44% to 28%. The apply of hard drugs has declined. Like the number of HIV and hepatitis infections, as well as the number of fatal overdose deaths. Legalization of drugs could protect civilization, rather than harm it. Third debate: Cannabis is addictive and undesirable. Exclusively the ban frustrates the most difficult.
Even though cannabis addiction is primarily mystic, it is nevertheless very dangerous. The demand for addiction therapy has more than doubled in the last ten years alone. About 10% of all people who try cannabis become addicted. It likewise comes from a higher THC content. In 2017, a study was published who examined the force over a 16 -year span cannabis in Dutch coffee shops. Each 1% raise resulted in that another 60 parties were receiving treatment across the country. Some studies have associated cannabis use and hoisted blood pressure as well as lung diseases. A 2016 study however refuted this and could only establish a higher peril of gingivitis. There have also been studies that have shown that cannabis changed the brains of adolescents and could shorten their knowledge. But more recent studies that also took into account uptake booze and tobacco could not confirm this. It can only certainly be said that drug use , no matter what, is bad for exploitation. But the truth is we don’t know yet how harmful cannabis is.
We would need more coin for further research and it’s hard to get as long as cannabis is illegal. Regarding legal dopes on the other hand, there are countless studies: About 16% of people who drink alcohol become alcoholics and 32% of people who try to smoke tobacco become smokers. We know for sure that alcohol kills brain cadres, destroys the liver and is carcinogenic, while tobacco clots the routes, destroys the lungs and is also carcinogenic. 3.3 million people die from alcohol abuse each year and tobacco assertions 6 million victims each year. No one claims that tobacco and alcohol are harmless, merely because they are legal. And no one dangerously offers to ban them, although they are extremely dangerous. Legalization offers us a possibility to control them. Especially if it is a question of protecting the youth. It is often much more difficult for adolescents to obtain law narcotics than illegal ones.
Sellers can face severe penalty and lose their license if they sell alcohol or cigarettes to children. Through legalization, we create incentives and possibilities for control that we is not have with illegal drugs. The legalization of cannabis therefore does not mean that we are in favor, but that we take responsibility for the risks. In addition, we could pave the way for further research and understand how dangerous cannabis is and for whom. Bottom Line: Cannabis is a drug. And as with all pharmaceuticals, the authorities have negative backlashes for a significant portion of consumers. And precise because it is not harmless, cannabis is advisable to decriminalize. If details content and you’re serious about armour of the dangers of cannabis, so you should be on the side more decriminalization and legalization.
